The promise of the internet was to democratise access to information. Instead, the business models of big tech have come to hijack our attention spans; resulting in anxiety, algorithm-induced polarisation, and a general context collapse. While an increasing amount of information is available to us at any time, our ability to make sense of that information is decreasing.
Digital tools should improve our conditions for consuming, creating, and sharing ideas. They should let us extend our thinking, instead of disrupting it. Technology should be a force to supercharge our cognitive abilities, not to deteriorate them.
This is why we’re building Sane. Our mission is to raise the collective wisdom of humanity by enabling meaningful ways of creating and sharing knowledge. We do this by conducting independent research, hosting a podcast about networked thinking, and building a platform for collecting, connecting, and sharing thought-processes.
